Asobi Seksu is taking shoegaze to the next level.
Shoegaze music is sonic, swirling rock music in which the voice melds into the instrumental. The vocals don’t pop out, like in typical songs–they blend in to create spacey psychadelia.
Highly influenced by the likes of My Bloody Valentine and Blonde Redhead, Asobi Seksu (meaning ‘casual sex’ in Japanese) is melding buzzing guitars with soft voices, and fun visuals.
