When we introduced viewers to Colette Kavanagh and her video for “Someday,” we all knew we had discovered something special. Her ability to tap into the emotional core of listeners through her soothing vocals and intimately personal lyrics. In a world of artists fighting to see who can make the most noise, it was a welcome relief to find an artist still dedicated to the craft of songwriting.
On her new single, “Hold On,” this songstress hailing from County Kildare, Ireland delivers another beauty of sweeping grandeur. Her influences such as James Taylor, Barbara Streisand, Carole King, Beach Boys and so many more can be heard in her music. Each one is like it’s own individual thread weaving in and out with each other, ultimately creating a brand new musical tapestry.
It won’t come as a surprise for us to tell you that the new video “Hold On” is one of arresting beauty. We’d expect nothing less from Colette. It’s in the way it’s done, however, that is the most striking. On paper, the video is predominantly a solo performance piece of Colette serenading the camera with locked eyes and an instantaneous connection.
It’s the gorgeous execution of this concept that sets the video apart. Shot entirely in a darkened room, the minimal lighting is used to perfection to illuminate Colette in a comforting warmth as she effortlessly glides throughout the room. Only a few select shots deviate from her engaging performance, including a table full of tea candles that ignite and extinguish in unison with the emotional peaks and valleys of the song. Subtlety is key here, and Colette and director Aidan Farrelly deliver a truly mesmerizing clip.
We’re delighted to have the opportunity to work with Colette Kavanagh once again and are certain both programmers and viewers alike will adore this video like we have here at HIP Video Promo.
