Sybris tries to rob a jewelry store

Sybris has been praised far and wide for their energetic, charismatic singer Angela Mullenhour, and the strength of the music behind it, which can be furious and noisy, and also stark and shoegaze-y.

Lauded Chicago critic Tom Lynch says it best: “Into the Trees is a fine example of a four-piece rock band firing on all cylinders, unapologetic for the noise and to hell with you if you can’t stand it. On top of that, it’s viciously smart material, clean guitars giving way to damaged distortion with ease, and no hook or diversion rings unnatural.”

The Sybris video is not only an all-out assault on the ears, but also pictures a bungled assault on a jewelry store. The band members planned to rob the store and take the jewels from the safe–but when they got there, stockings fitted over their face, it turns out the store had been robbed already. Bummer.
