Hello programming friends, it’s Andy Gesner and the staff at HIP Video Promo with a buzzworthy new clip beaming straight out of the music capital of the world and the creative haven where “cool” gets developed (Brooklyn, New York) – please welcome Vivian Girls! The all-girl trio derives their name from the works of reclusive American writer, Henry Dodger, whose works were discovered in his home after his death.

In their brand new song, “I Heard You Say,” this indie rock power trio injects us with a pleasant dosage of tingling soft twang and sprinkles us with sweet vocal harmonies, all while hiding the dark teen-angst center of the tune. The song is as enigmatic as it is accessible, blending the vocally driven and reverberating sound of The Shangri-Las with the dark and brooding uncertainty of Nirvana. This unique formula results in a sound that belongs in Seattle as much as it does in its Brooklyn home.

The music video features the adorable Vivian Girls traversing the hollow spaces of wintery fields and inhabiting campy hotel rooms that could easily come from the set of Twin Peaks. The climax of the video comes when the band set the room on fire and intentionally outdated special effects cover the screen. “I Heard You Say” is one of those rare chameleons of the music world that blends pure ecstasy and utter darkness within its 3 minute core. With such fearless ambition, Vivian Girls are more than set to break hearts nationwide.

The band is currently touring in support of their latest fantastic lo-fi/punk release titled Share The Joy on Polyvinyl Record Co. For the duration of this winter and spring, Vivian Girls will be opening for Black Lips across the country, before heading overseas. Vivian Girls are no strangers to the road, having recently supported Fucked Up in the U.S. and Male Bonding in the U.K. The girls are also quite familiar with the festival crowd, having performed at many of these high profile events, including Pitchfork Music Festival. Make sure to let us know if you would like to interview the band, and will be sure to make it happen!

We are filled with joy to be waving the Polyvinyl flag once again – we always expect some of the best and innovative music to come from their doors. We’ve got lots of Vivian Girls stuff here for contests and giveaways, so don’t be shy about reaching out.
