Porsha And Mercedes "The Dealership" Artist: PORSHA AND MERCEDES Label: INDEPENDENT Video: “THE DEALERSHIP” Director: Porsha Brooks Add Date: October 12, 2015 The tables have turned, folks. Going away are the days of male-dominated sexuality and choices, and coming in is a new era of strong, confident women who aren’t afraid to express themselves and their desires. Leading this charge is the hip-hop duo of Porsha and Mercedes, two ladies whose goal is to make women feel superior for once in this male dominated world. To do so, they’ve even created their own showroom for examining men’s assets. They call it “The Dealership,” and in the new video we get to see the pair and their crew kick the tires on this year’s models. When Porsha and Mercedes set out to make “The Dealership” they fully intended to push the envelope, which is something they are perfectly comfortable doing. Born and raised in Queens, NY and Long Island, this duo have been crushing it in the underground scene, earning them an Underground Music Awards’ nomination for “Most Orgininal Rap Group” as well as consistent plays on Power 105.1FM as well as spins by New York’s hottest DJ’s including DJ Envy, DJ Self, and DJ SussOne. On the commercial side, this multi-faceted, multi-talented duo has also written songs for such artists as Trey Songz, Mario Winans, and Sevyn Streeter. Now it’s time for them to take their own steps into the spotlight, except they plan on doing things their own way. Let’s take a look at “The Dealership.” The video is set in a wide open NYC with plenty of slabs of meat out on full display. Porsha, Mercedes and their crew make their way through the room, giving a brutally honest assessment of all of the options before them. Puerto Rican, Asian, African American, they’re all available to take home today. As long as you drive stick! If you think the song and video objectifies men and reduces them to nothing more than their abs and their anatomy, then you are absolutely correct. In a world where women in the hip hop world are judged by little more than their curves and their looks, it’s a deliberate bit of course correction that is long overdue. Porsha and Mercedes are not exactly wholesome “girls next door” types, but they are exactly the strong, determined female role models the world needs right now; making great professional strides and growing their fanbase daily and all of us here at HIP Video Promo are excited to be along for the ride.
