Cadence Weapon featured on mtvU’s ‘Hot Seat’

The first time I played SXSW, I was playing at the same time as Ghostface Killah. I had a photo shoot earlier that day and I mentioned to the photographer how disappointed I was that I would be missing his set. This same photographer came to my venue at the end of my show with an autographed copy of the Fader with Ghostface on the cover and my name on it! Then he was like, “you wanna come to dinner with him?”
And so that’s what we did. We went to a Chinese restaurant and I sat right next to Ghostface and about 15 people from Def Jam and a couple other journalists. I asked him about Dilla and some other nerdy stuff and I got a picture with him after the meal. He ordered fried rice “with mad eggs in it” and demanded that all the leftovers not be thrown away but be taken with them and given to any homeless people that they would see around town that night. He’s one of my idols so it was pretty cool.
