Sometimes the enduring emotions of a singer/songwriter’s heartbreak can inspire songs that can move the world, and that’s exactly what this New Jersey bred/L.A. based artist and performer Alexis Keegan does. HIP Video Promo is pleased to present her latest video “The Game.”

Alexis is keeps it raw, real and edgy on her debut album tentatively called Clean S.L.A.T.E. (Seeking Life After the End). The vocals are groundbreaking and emerge throughout the tracks, adding a rock edge to her early R&B roots while turning personal losses into universal expressions of hope. While “Hush (My Name Is A.K.),” her 2009 single on Next Plateau Entertainment, was released to iTunes and dance clubs and received minor club and radio play in the U.S. and European markets like France, Alexis quickly realized that being a dance artist meant a focus more on superficial stage presentation than vocals and emotion.

Deep R&B grooves and the desire to emerge from the darkness of loss, find their roots in Alexis’ adolescent and teen years growing up in Maplewood, New Jersey, where she recalls singing Mariah Carey songs into a “hairbrush mic” when she was six. Her father’s cancer diagnosis inspired her to do a recording of Carey’s classic “Butterfly” in tribute to him. During this period, she vowed that she would use her vocal skills as a way to help others get through their everyday struggles.

Her most recent video clip “The Game” is filled with scenes that highlight the talents of this incredible artist. The tune is a motivational song about falling in love and connects the art of falling in love to every day life, and the thrill that goes along with it. A clever male suitor gets her attention at her gig and rather than just put it all out there, he leads Alexis on a fun and romantic chase. Through evening carnivals and old western-styled country towns, Alexis follows the clues and pursues the boy until its logical conclusion. It’s a romantic whirlwind that you’ll be sure to fall in love with yourself! .
