Hello ladies and gentlemen of the programming world, it’s Andy Gesner and the HIP Video promo staff with a shiny and warm new video from Canadian indie rock royalty Bedouin Soundclash. The humble and raspy layers of “Mountain Top” will send you skiing down a slope of euphonic pleasure as you enjoy this excellent rocksteady entry.

“Mountain Top” is hopeful and optimistic without being overly too sweet. Coming from the award winning indie power trio Bedouin Soundclash, this song takes the easy breeze of indie rock, lines it with some up-stroke reggae style guitars and delivers it in an absolutely ear friendly vocal melody that only frontman singer/guitarist Jay Malinowski can summon to the microphone. “Mountain Top” rocks like “London Calling” meets Kings of Leon, enchanting the listener with a simple yet sophisticated arrangement, providing a nice contrast to the modern tendency of heavy layering in studio recordings. This creates a sound that is both, warm and perfectly crisp.

The video is a loyal companion to the song, featuring a stylish show of flowing lights as the band fills up the stage with their bright essence. Interlaced with clips of news articles about the band’s accomplishments, exciting touring moments and gratifying fan shots, “Mountain Top” tells the story of the group’s labor of love as they climb the mountain of success in punk rock fashion, by touring and attracting their fan base one person at a time. This is the sort of energy that has helped Bedouin Soundclash amass a ton of critical recognition.

The group’s 2008 release Street Gospels has received a prestigious “Pop Album of the Year” Juno Awards nomination along with a Juno “Video of the Year” nomination for “Walls Fall Down”, following up their 2004 Juno Award for “Best New Band”. The band has also gained the #1 spot on the Much Music video countdown show MuchMoreMusic. This sort of acclaim has sent the band sharing the stage with some of the biggest acts in the world including Coldplay, Alicia Keys, and The Verve in Japan. The band also opened on the No Doubt reunion arena tour alongside Paramore. “Mountain Top” is the leading single from the group’s new album Light The Horizon. The album, produced by King Britt (Mos Def remix, King Sunny Ade) is filled with new terrain for the band as they introduce a more soulful sound, but without abandoning the charm that has earned them their crown.

We are ecstatic to champion the glorious return of Bedouin Soundclash. The folks over at Nat Geo Music and Pirates Blend have provided us with lots of copies of Light The Horizon for your listening pleasure and on-air giveaway needs.
