Here at HIP Video Promo, we cherish this time of year because we get to see all of the brand new holiday clips and the classic songs reinterpreted. Some are pretty standard, but some really stand out and stay with us each and year after. This year, by far, that song is “Hark The Herald Angels Sing” by American singer/songwriter Claudia Hoyser.

Born in 1994, in Rochester NY, to a schoolteacher mother and entrepreneurial father. She was raised in Fairport, a quiet canal town in Upstate New York.

All her life, she’s possessed a burning desire to entertain, and at 19 she was introduced to a recording studio owner who has had a long history in the music business as a manager and industry executive. He saw something special in Claudia and knew that helping her along would be a solid iron in the fire.

Claudia also met a feature film director and one casual audition later for a part in the Sony/Provident film (Wildflower) she secured the role of Hannah, a voice from the past. Wildflower is a faith-based film costarring Nathalia Ramos (Bratz: The Movie/ Gallows Hill) and Cody Longo (Fame/Make it or Break it) and is in post production and due for release in March 2016.

In her junior year of college, Claudia had a decision to make; Either take an internship in New York City at a well known fashion company or approach Tony, the studio owner, to intern at the studios for the college credit needed and to be immersed in the music industry. “That’s when everything started to fall in place,” Claudia states. “Tony had an all girl group concept called “The Flag Girls” that he has toyed with over the last bunch of years and shared that with me. I immediately said, ‘Let’s do it!’” “Next thing you know, I’m getting interviewed, doing appearances, signing autographs and even guest hosting at an airgun show.” Participation in the movie also started evolving and now Claudia has four songs in Wildflower.

While that engine continues to hum, Claudia has temporarily pivoted to the upcoming holiday season to flex her musical muscle. “Hark The Herald Angels Sing” is a dark/indie rendition of the traditional Christmas carol that highlights the sultry side of Claudia Hoyser. With an earthy, organic, “force of nature” voice, her earnest, yet understated vocal delivery envelops you like a warm blanket. The video is an Impromptu, DIY, late night effort that puts Claudia front and center of the camera. With nothing but her guitar and microphone in front of her, she delicately delivers a mellow performance in the recording studio that is perfectly captured by the low lighting and tastefully placed shadows across the room. A few Christmas lights scattered over the console for good measure and it’s a clip that will come back year after year for continuous pleasure!

At times, Claudia is a little bit country, little folky, little bit EDM and a little bit alternative… But she is all amazing and endlessly talented.
