According to Wikipedia, “the idiom ‘Crossing the Rubicon’ means to pass a point of no return.” For Bristol, CT’s heavy metal machine Crossing Rubicon, they passed that point at an early age. Once they heard the sounds of artists like Judas Priest, Aerosmith, Motley Crue, and Iron Maiden, they were hooked. Since their formation they’ve been punishing audiences with their sound that pulls their influences from the metal of the 80s and early 90s and pulls it into 2016. With their new single, “Unhinged,” the band unapologetically announces their arrival on the national scene in a big way.

The recent release of their first full length album, No Less Than Everything (Pavement Entertainment), is the culmination of several years of sweating it out on the local east coast circuit. What started in packed basement shows soon evolved to opening slots for Motley Crue, Bret Michaels, and Tantric. With the recent addition of ex-All That Remains bassist Jeanne Sagan, the finalized line up that also includes Scott Anarchy, Brandi Hood, Zach Lambert and Jesse Near is ready to support No Less Than Everything on their Burn Up The East Coast Tour this summer. The run culminates in appearances at DirtFest and The Big Kahuna 2, alongside some of the biggest names in the metal scene today like Killswitch Engage, Hatebreed, and Mushroom Head.

“Unhinged” is a fierce, aggressive piece of cinema that hits like an 18 wheeler full of cinder blocks. Against a powerful performance of Crossing Rubicon in a tight basement to a small legion of fans, a story plays out that is equal parts uplifting and troubling. A chaotic, distracted home life has left this little boy hiding away from it all behind a homemade mask. He’s in his own world, seemingly disconnected from the world around him. A night out brings him to the secret basement show, where he finally finds a place where he fits in, thanks to the energy and atmosphere created by Crossing Rubicon.
