Forty Ounce is group that blends hip hop, rock, and punk to create one unique, and unforgettable, musical outfit. And with a name like Forty Ounce, it’s only appropriate that they state on their website that they are “dedicated to drinking.” They also have a mission statement that says they “rap about things that really matter, like seeing your mother in the club getting drugs for free.” So we’re sure they know how to talk a big game and make bold statements, but can they back it up with any substance? You bet your ass they can, and their new videos for “In God We Trust” and “Yo Momma” are sure to drive that point home!

The band is fronted by Ben Gravy and pairs him with drummer Frank Chase. These fellas are no new comers to the scene, having spent time in the Philly/Atlantic City/South Jersey music scene for several years. Ben even produces his own monthly podcast and TV series titled Nub TV, which is garnering a cult following in the region. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that they are now delivering not one, but two music videos that are equal parts fun, silly, serious, and technically savvy. “In God We Trust” and “Yo Momma” were both directed by the band and it’s apparent that great care and planning was put into both clips.

“In God We Trust” is actually a bit of a curve ball from the description of a band that says they’re dedicated to drinking and our mothers. But in a world of blazing fast exchange of information and technology, and questionable morals and motives by both the private and public sector, Forty Ounce has decided to channel their frustrations into their music. It’s all a very Orwellian experience, beginning with audio of JFK’s speech about secret societies and interspersing video of hidden laboratories, buried secrets, and government run amok. It all focuses around the failed state of the country we live in and a warning that we need to change our ways before it is too late.

“Yo Momma” is a much more lighthearted approach and what would be the model example of what we would expect from Forty Ounce. It’s not for the faint of heart as Gravy and Chase trade verses about all the things that you never want to think of your mom doing. They also make it clear in no uncertain terms what they are going to do to Yo Momma! The video features performance elements, a unique superhero appearance, and an all around mischievous vibe that allows both Ben and Frank to make the most of their big personalities and bigger sound.

We’re happy to be working with Forty Ounce on these two videos and are here to get you anything you may need to get this video into your programming, please contact Andy Gesner and the HIP Video Promo staff at(732)-613-1779 or email us at info@HIPVideoPromo.com .
