It’s instantly clear that Liana Bank$ is a very special talent. From her early days as a shy child growing up around a family of accomplished musicians, it seemed inevitable that Liana would forge her own path. She grew up surrounded by jazz, gospel, and broadway, while also finding huge inspiration from strong female artists like Grace Jones and Missy Elliott. It should be no surprise that this fiendishly talented performer cites James Brown as her all time favorite.

It was the chance to audition to be a backup dancer for Chris Brown when she really found her calling. Being up close to an artist of that caliber and seeing how a singer can just completely own a room was all she needed to hear. Using her songwriting skills to get in the door, Liana quickly was able to get into studio/writing sessions with legendary producers like Scott Storch, Jerry Wonda and JR Rotem straight out of High School. She soon found herself crafting and submitting songs for artists like Rihanna, Nikki Minaj, and Justine Skye. All of this experience honed her writing abilities to prepare herself for her own music.

The “LVLUP” video rolls across the visual spectrum with the ease of a seasoned veteran. The laid back jams create a grooving backbeat for Liana to drop some of her signature sultry vocals over top of. It’s a night out for Liana and her crew as they kick back at their pad, hit the streets of Jersey City, NJ, then hop the PATH train over to the center of the universe; Times Square. Taking advantage of the unique scenery, Liana incorporates herself and her wardrobe into the neon lights that dot the underground station. This minor tie-in by director Bojan Vanovac makes a huge impact, creating the signature look for the video!

We’re all incredibly excited to be working with the entire Liana Bank$ team to bring you this fine clip. The video just wrapped up a week with a spot on the coveted mtvU Freshmen competition, where she owned the others to earn a spot in regular rotation. Big things are ahead, so get on this train now!
