Described as “pop music for pop music snobs,” New York duo Lilly Wolf have created a catchy collaboration of electronic music infused with the perfect dose of melody, catchy hooks, and insightful lyrics. HIP Video Promo presents the exciting new video for the fresh and energetic single “Strictly Luxury.”
The project is made up of front woman Lilly Wolfson and producer Alex Neuhausen (Dr. Nu). While the duo consists of these two equal partners, Wolfson’s name and face represent them. While studying at Stanford University, Wolfson and Neuhausen met online in a musician-based Facebook group. At the time, Wolfson had a singer/songwriter focus and recruited Neuhausen to play the guitar. Having won several singing competitions and performed on “A Prairie Home Companion,” Wolfson was pursuing a more acoustic sound. However, after a few years of performing music in the Bay Area, they transitioned their sound and entered the EDM arena, employing synths, elements of house and dubstep, and their own electro flavorings to craft an entirely different sound.
Lilly Wolf is climbing new heights since their relocation to New York City last year. Their latest songs have been licensed to Bunim-Murray and regularly soundtrack shows like “The Bad Girls Club” and “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.” In the coming months, this dance-inspired act will release a new EP and additional videos while planning a nationwide tour to engage with their growing fan base. In the meantime, the two musicians are employed as web developers by day, working in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. At night, they have been playing at increasingly legendary dance parties in local lofts, warehouses, and abandoned spaces. “We want to write classic dance songs,” says Wolfson of their long-term goals, bringing up Michael Jackson and Madonna songs as ones that continue to live on. That is just what the music of Lilly Wolf does, and the electrifying video for “Strictly Luxury” proves it.
Directed by Harry Mavromichalis, “Strictly Luxury” displays elegant, unique fashions and impressive dancing. Established film and TV professionals Yiorgos Bellapaisiotis, Lance Boyd, Tomo Tamura, and Kumiko Hirose have blended their talents, perfecting everything from Lilly’s wardrobe to her hair and make-up. Addressing the pressing social theme of inequality, Lilly sings from the twisted viewpoint of a decadent socialite, fabulously wealthy and yet morally bankrupt, delivering lines such as “I can purchase love, money money,” and “If I like it, I can buy it, I can burn it.” She parades through the scenes of the clip displaying extreme, artistically fanciful outfits that echo the expressions of Madonna’s collaborations with Jean Paul Gaultier. Choreographer Jesse Jones and a team of glamorous, androgynous dancers further drive home the themes of opulence and attitude.
In no time, “Strictly Luxury” will be racking up spins by DJ’s at VIP clubs across the world. For more information, please contact Andy Gesner and the HIP Video Promo staff at (732)-613-1779 or email us at info@HIPVideoPromo.com .
