Canada’s Strange & Primitive is the new collaboration from Graham Fish and Jeff Musgrave, a talented duo that, in their own words, have “gone deaf from almost a decade of working with each other and yelling over loudspeakers.” Formerly working under the name Audiograft they have taken their knack for sonic exploration and combined it with a love of new wave and emerged with a project that bites deep and stings the listener in the heart.

The first single, “Eureka,” is a pulsating clip that marries the dirtiest fuzz bass on the low end with the haunting falsettos of the vocals soaring overhead. Fans of acts such as Joy Division, New Order, and Dead Can Dance will instantly gravitate towards Strange & Primitive. The debut self-titled full length drops this summer and “Eureka” is just a taste of the wildly infectious effort. For a group that calls themselves Strange & Primitive, they sure do feel familiar and advanced!

Take the new video for “Eureka,” for example… Like a futuristic story of Dr. Frankenstein, this video explores the ever-more-familiar narrative of humans creating robots that ultimately trump them, threatening to take over the human race. And it is all done in a fantastic claymation style! The main human is a lone scientist on a spacecraft flying through the cosmos, and through a combination of invention, necessity, and loneliness he creates his own robotic companion. While it started harmlessly enough with clear lines of master and servant it soon becomes apparent that the robot has bested his master in every way. The scientist does not like this threat, but while a human can be subjected to pettiness and jealousy, the robot is merely there to serve. When these two different philosophies collide, the results are bound to get interesting!

We are incredibly excited to be working with this new group to get their music and video in front of a wide audience!
