We’re willing to bet you haven’t heard an artist quite like Trumpet Grrrl before. Combining a low, sultry voice with professionally honed trumpet skills, she delivers a sight and sound that is pop, jazz, soul, and even a little bit rock and roll. Her story has been a lifelong pursuit, from her humble beginnings at the age of 10 through a performance at Carnegie Hall and culminating with a Bachelor’s of Music in Trumpet Performance from the University of Maryland.

She eventually landed in NYC under the Trumpet Grrrl moniker and began to write and record with a fury. She has most recently linked up with Grammy award winning producer Scott Jacoby for her third release, Just Listen. We’re excited to present two standout tracks, “Love/Hate NYC” and “Rain Boots,” that showcase the chops, the songwriting, and especially the fun and unique musical approach of Trumpet Grrrl.

“Love/Hate NYC” is the song that anyone who has spent time in the Big Apple can appreciate. “No place to stay, but the place to be…” is a line that sums it up perfectly. The video accompaniment has all of the hallmarks of life in the five boroughs; cramped apartments, gritty streets, rooftop hangs, but most importantly a cast of characters and a vibrancy that makes it the ultimate destination for arts and culture. A troupe of dancers and Trumpet Grrrl share screen time and bring this clip to life with their passion and conviction.

For the second video, “Rain Boots,” the mood is a bit more lighthearted as the story follows the tale of a pair of rain boots on the move. It begins with Trumpet Grrrl unloading them at the local thrift store, but then soon realizing that a good pair of slickers is like certain relationships; You only realize how much you miss them when you really need them. The moral of the song? Appreciate the good people in your lives and by golly, let them know every once in awhile!

We’re very pleased and excited to be working with an artist as unique and exciting as Trumpet Grrrl, and are confident that either “Love/Hate NYC” or “Rain Boots,” or both, will be perfect for your programming.
