Jana Mashonee

Her awe-inspiring voice and fresh, bluesy take on R&B has given Jana Mashonee many fans–and thus a way to raise money for a cause she cares a lot about.

All proceeds from Jana’s cover of the famed Sam Cooke song, “A Change Is Gonna Come” is going to benefit Jana Kids, a non-profit foundation Jana created, which gives scholarships to Native American high schoolers who show outstanding talent as artists, athletes and scholars. The scholarships, called officially Jana’s Kids Educational Scholarship for Native Youth, can be applied to from Mashonee’s Web site.
She is still looking for this year’s winners.

Although Mashonee sang “Change is Gonna Come,” she isn’t sitting back and waiting–she’s taken action herself, provoking change through activism.
