Reverend Peyton

Yes, some people still do play the washboard.

Enter Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, a trio that makes quite the hillbilly racket. Playing twangy numbers that are called things like “Mama’s Fried Potatoes,” and “Worn Out Shoe,” the band obviously has a special place in their hearts for things rustic and rugged and log cabin-y.

To create this dusty-footed sound, the band uses only a washboard, acoustic guitar, and snare drum.

Newsweekly aptly referred to them as “Robert Johnson on crack.” Yep.

They’re out on tour now. Check out MySpace to see if they’re going to be in your neighborhood.
