Hello programming pals, it’s Andy Gesner and the HIP Video Promo crew, pleased to introduce a group of exciting new artists to the Dubstep music scene. Fytch, Captain Crunch, and Carmen Forbes have teamed up to produce slightly soulful and mesmerizing music. With the explosion of their enticing new single “Raindrops,” we see the many different genres that are touched upon throughout this trio’s music—soul, hip-hop, R&B, and pop. At the mere ages of fifteen, singer Carmen Forbes and producer Fytch have teamed up with London’s own 2011 Best Breakthrough Dubstep DJ, Captain Crunch to create songs that are both sedative and soulful.

For producer Fytch, it doesn’t take long for him to create certain songs that others have not even come close to, in terms of eccentric ideas. The incredible lulls heard in singer Carmen Forbes’ rhythmic voice are soothing, and when you combine these harmonious notes with that of DJ Captain Crunch’s beats, you will find that these musicians have truly crafted something beautiful and wondrous. The combination of a soulful, yet classical vocal melody flourishes throughout the twisting Dubstep sounds. Within the music, we hear the gentle inspirations of contemporary artists such as Adele and Duffy, but the vocals of Carmen Forbes transcend every note and create music that is as fluent as an ocean wave. This constant fluidity can be seen in their video for “Raindrops,” a song that, by itself, transforms the entire Dubstep music scene.

“Raindrops” emanates the skillfully obscure genre of ambient-trance with its vocal melody and Dubstep elements. Director Chaz Golding shines a light on these talented artists through settings in dance clubs and social scenes. The lyrics of the song suggest that in public, sometimes social atmospheres can be incredibly overwhelming and chaotic, but through the somber and encouraging chorus of “Raindrops” we realize that all we need are the lull and calm feelings that are found within music. The song is somewhat of a lullaby intertwined with Dubstep beats that provoke rhythms that encourage the art of dance music. This creative approach to Dubstep music shows that when talented musicians put their minds together, they can create something that is quite powerful. “Raindrops” is a perfect example of the idea that music doesn’t have to have a straight forward formula, but that its sole purpose is to create a connection for people everywhere.
