Jes Marie “Girls’ Night Out”

“Girls’ Night Out” is Jes Marie’s call to action for women everywhere in the post-pandemic world. At face value, it’s a celebration of her and her friends being able to “hit the town” and have fun together once again. However, a deeper reading of the lyrics unmasks Marie’s bigger message about women claiming their spot in the music industry. In recent years, the country music scene has shown an obvious bias in favor of male artists and Jes knows that it’s time for this to change. “Girls’ Night Out” is this creative’s movement to make other women feel empowered and confident; the same feeling she felt after listening to Shania Twain for the first time. Her ambition also manifests itself in the track’s music. Produced by Noah Conrad, (Kelsea Ballerini, Niall Horan, BTS) the new track fuses traditional country sounds with dance, pop, and EDM, a fresh take on the genre. The song is a call to action to women of all ages to get on the dance floor, let loose and feel free and alive, a la Shania Twain’s “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” and Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”.

Ryck Jane “You Gone Learn Today” and “No Problems”

“You Gone Learn Today,” her newest single, is her boldest declaration of autonomy yet. On the track, Ryck Jane raps about the inevitability of her rise and underscores her theme with a performance that’s relentless, colorful, and loaded with personality. Call it a message to the nonbelievers — who are getting harder and harder to find. The production backs up her boasts: the track is muscular and hypnotic, decorated with a thick, serpentine bass synthesizer lead, skittering beats, a thumping kick drum, and chanted backing vocals. The deep musicality of the “You Gone Learn Today” arrangement is a reminder that long before Ryck Jane found fame as an independent rapper, she’d distinguished herself as a trumpeter.

That horn shows up on “No Problems,” the bonus Ryck Jane cut. The track is a centerpiece of Jane Got A Gun, the rapper’s scalding 2023 album. It’s slinkier and more subtle than the rambunctious “You Gone Learn Today,” but as the video makes clear, it’s another message to the world that Ryck James can’t be stopped. Just like the “You Gone Learn Today” video clip, “No Problems” is a showcase for the artist’s unique, and unerring sense of style.  It’s all here, and it’s all wild, and worn with the self-possession of a queen.

AG GATLING feat. LATICE CRAWFORD & READYAVE “Name It”

“Name It” is a sensual ode to the Lord, in which our artists owe all of their success to. Beginning with a short conversation between AG GATLING and his brother Chris, with those few words being exchanged setting the tone for the rest of the track. The central idea of “naming it” is revisited by AG throughout the song, referring to the gifts and luck that God has contributed to AG‘s success. This phrase is slowly replaced by “claim it”, where the artist now becomes more triumphant in their success. Contributions by LATICE CRAWFORD and READYAVE elevate the song’s emotional core to the next level, as they echo AG‘s own sentiments but in their unique style of singing. Even with the fast rhymes sung by READYAVE, the music of the track consistently plays at a slow, soulful pace that one finds themselves swinging back and forth too, and leaves them contemplating their own relationship with God.
