Communicating Vessels artists Shaheed and DJ Supreme are at it again, but this time they’ve brought a special guest along for the ride! HIP Video Promo is once again pleased to be working with Shaheed and DJ Supreme, especially on this captivating video clip “Champions of Truth” featuring Akil the MC from Jurassic 5.
Hailing from Birmingham, Alabama, hip-hip recording artists Shaheed and DJ Supreme emerged onto the scene in early 2012. Nearly two years later, these influential artists have found a way to excite and inspire music listeners whose tastes range from pop to hip-hop genres. However, these artists don’t fit the mold of most typical “dirty south” musicians, as they are practitioners of traditional boom-bap hip-hop.
They’ve already released two critically acclaimed LPs, Health Wealth & Knowledge of Self and Scholar Warrior, which showcase Shaheed’s sharp lyrical prowess and DJ Supreme’s soulful production. As a group, Shaheed and DJ Supreme have shared stages with Raekwon, DJ Shiftee, Brother Ali, Atmosphere, and Stalley, as well as label mates The Green Seed. Their albums boast guest appearances from artists such as Akil the MC, Amir Sulaiman, and W. Ellington Felton. Their first video offering, the infectious “Right Now,” was a knock down, drag out rhyme spitting fest, and while it was a monster in its own right, it was merely setting the table for the newest clip!
Featuring talented Akil the MC from Jurassic 5, “Champions of Truth” is a song that highlights the uniqueness and kinship that exists within Shaheed and DJ Supreme’s performances. Filled with powerfully inspiring lyrics, the clip captures the true essence behind the diction and rhyme flows of the song itself. “Champions of Truth” explodes with a kaleidoscope of color that seamlessly flows between live performance footage and meticulous in studio tracking. With its cut-to-the-bone lyrical content, it is a song that echoes hip-hop that is both old and new, but captures its own style that is timeless and classic.
