THE GREEN SEED
January 10, 2012
Season’s greetings from Andy Gesner and the HIP Video Promo crew bringing you an early holiday present of fresh new music! Birmingham, Alabama’s The Green Seed has produced a plethora of verse-based poetry which informs and encourages music listeners on a much more personal level. For over a decade, they have worked individually and collectively to create stylistic beats and rhythmic lyrics that define modern Hip Hop music.
Like every great artist, a musician creates and produces music from the likes of what has been influential to them throughout their entire lives. When you hear the fresh sounds of The Green Seed, you find yourself on the same path as you did when you discovered Nas’Ilmatic. With verses that overflow with mind altering lyrics and encouraging words, it is easy to find yourself adhering to their creative flow. From politics to personal endeavors, The Green Seed is full of smart and sophisticated artists who urge you to contemplate human individuality and give in to the new anti-consumerist fist pump.
In their new video for the song “Crack Kills,” The Green Seed entertains the importance of individuality. They walk around with cardboard television sets on their heads in order to pass forth the idea that material objects should simply not be taken so seriously. The televisions stand for a metaphor, which screams the definition of the television era. The catchy lyrics and the mellow, yet unique, beats of the song pull you from all sides and give more meaning to the idea that life is short. The Green Seed entertains more important values in life, such as life itself. The song carries this constant theme from beginning to end, and you will find yourself in utter contemplation from the issues at hand.
They have shared a stage with artists such as Raekwon, G-Side and Jurassic 5, but nothing compares to the individuality that these artists present us with. Although there is a vast amount of music that is produced every single day, nothing shines more than the originality of these musicians. The Green Seed presents us with such originality, which forces the every day lives of greedy Americans underneath a microscopic lens for inspection. Underneath this lens, we find ourselves in awe of what we discover—that material objects are of most importance to us as individuals. However, The Green Seed helps us comprehend and disregard the unimportance of these objects, and dig deeper to the individual that exists within each and every one of us.
