We Were Promised

These Scottish lads are known for blasting up high in the sky, yet keeping a tether on the ground. We Were Promised Jetpacks favors atomespheric layers, soft voices, and walls of noise. They revel in psychadelia, but don’t go over-the-top. They don’t go Timothy Leary-style. The guitars are airy and fluffy, but they keep it steady in a pop song formula.

These elements come together visually in the video for “Roll Up Your Sleeves.” You will see the band members, photographed on sepia-toned paper. However, this paper is all ripped-up, floating in space somewhere, shiny stuff floating next to them. A crazy, up-in-space adventure indeed.
