Carolina Brandes was born and raised in Frankfurt, Germany before coming stateside to study at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston where she studied performance and jazz composition. She is the daughter of a German filmmaker mother and an Italian architect father. Her eclectic background and life experiences helped carve out a unique musical vision for herself, which has been called various adjectives such as jazz, avant grade, funk, fusion, crossover, contemporary and more. Though the description may not be easy to come by, the sound is as easy to enjoy as anything you’ve heard, and her new video for “Silence Score” will leave viewers mesmerized by her otherworldly aura.

Her newest album, Flowers Of The Deeper Soil, is the culmination of years spent in various projects and establishing herself on multiple continents. Whether it be her Italian-based project O.M.P. which is a fan favorite for their daring performances and signature face paint, or her solo performances in major jazz clubs in Boston and New York City, Carolina has taken this experience and channeled it into Flowers Of The Deeper Soil. In order to help maximize her vision she has enlisted her trusted companions Robin Eubanks and Kurt Rosenwinkel to take her art to the true next level. The end result is an album that is both mysterious and comfortably familiar.

“Silence Score” is a tantalizing bit of cinema that strings together a connection between music and nature. As the video turns from night to day Carolina emerges from the soil of the earth, growing as one with the nature around her. The visuals are maximized by an enticing mixture of tasteful and subtle CGI paired with a vast array of shots of the planet earth. Carolina weaves her way through nature, like a modern day Mother Earth, and captivates the camera with her soulful and passionate performance. The video is an intriguing and thought provoking mixture that will give all of us the itch to make our way outside and appreciate the natural beauty that surrounds us on this sphere we call earth.
