THE GREEN SEED
March 17, 2015
The Green Seed are back again with yet another tasty clip chock full of attitude, style, and an otherworldly amount of exceptional visuals that run the spectrum of the color palette. We first introduced you to the Birmingham hip hop collective with their quirky “Crack Kills” video, but it was their last offering “Jude Law” that was a true game changer. For their newest video “Gotchoo,” their second single off of their debut full length Drapetomania (Communicating Vessels), they’ve taken the unique quirk and playfulness of “Crack Kills” and coupled with a plethora of CGI and Motion graphics on par with the unreal animation of “Jude Law.” The end result is a video that is an ode to what The Green Seed call “the weird south” and hits you smack in the face like the most memorable and crazy 3am infomercial you’ve ever seen.
When “Gotchoo” premiered recently on Noisey, they nailed the vibe of the video and also The Green Seed in general when they said “We can get caught up in the grand dramas of the genre and its stars, and it can be easy to lose sight of some simple things: Namely, music is about having fun. Be silly, world! Go forth and create! Do some weird shit! Who cares!” The song pulls from some of the best elements of 90’s hip-hop with the organic production and a beat that carries enough forward momentum to push a freight train. But the beauty of The Green Seed has always been that while they love to wear their influences on their sleeves, they are never ones to beat an audience over the head with it. It always sounds fresh and original.
“Gotchoo,” directed by Petros (TV on the Radio, Ellie Goulding) attacks the senses from the very first beat, showcasing all of the members in various shapes, sizes, and situations. Whether it be COMPLET as an infomercial salesman, R-Tist as a preacher, or FX and Jeff C stocking shelves in a bodega, the video finds a charm and livelihood in every frame. The vivid colors and variety of techniques proves there is never a dull moment. There is even a REAL working number you can call (1-844-DRA-PETO) to get some exclusive and choice content from The Green Seed. Buckle up, it’s going to be a helluva ride!
As always, we’re pumped to be working the Communicating Vessels crew to bring you a top shelf video for you and your viewers. For more information please contact Andy Gesner and the HIP Video Promo crew at (732)-613-1779 or email us at info@HIPVideoPromo.com for more info.
