The Zombies

Here at HIP Video Promo, we’ve been working hard to promote music videos since the year 2000. It’s important to us to help younger and independent artists get the recognition they deserve, and it’s exciting to be on the ground floor with artists that become household names (and with over 3200 videos under our belts in 19 years, there are quite a few). Every Friday, we’ll be sharing a “Flashback Friday” video, where we get to reflect on one of our favorite videos from a few years ago.

Formed in the early 1960s in St Albans, England, The Zombies have been rocking for more than half a century. Their music entertains and inspires millions of people around the world, and in 1964 – 55 years ago this week! – they hit Number One in the US for the first time with “She’s Not There.”

The Zombies’ 1968 album Odyssey and Oracle was ranked number 100 on Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, so we were thrilled when their clip for “Any Other Way” (from the 2011 album Breathe Out, Breathe In) premiered on the Rolling Stone website in 2013. Directed by Adam Lawrence, the video was filmed in The Cutting Room, a hip NYC club, and combines past and present influences as a short love story plays out on screen.

Since we worked with The Zombies in 2013, they released the album Still Got That Hunger in 2015, and a compilation, Time Of The Season, in 2017. Check out the music video for “Moving On”, from Still Got That Hunger, below! “Moving On” shows the band in their natural element: on stage and on the road.

Unfortunately, in 2018, bassist Jim Rodford passed away after a fall. The Zombies currently consists of Rod Argent (keyboards, backing and lead vocals), Colin Blunstone (lead and backing vocals), Steve Rodford (drums/percussion), Tom Kooney (guitars, backing vocals), and Søren Koch (bass guitar, backing vocals). Earlier this fall, The Zombies hit the road with the one and only Brian Wilson for the Something Great From ’68 Tour. They were also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!  If you want to see where their next adventure takes them, check out https://www.thezombiesmusic.com/.
