Over the years, we’ve had the pleasure of meeting up with some of our cherished clients to film a video interview that helps viewers get to know the artist as well as learn more about their new music video. Previously called “The HIP Clip,” these videos allow us to help connect artists with the world, as we give some insight and inside information into who they are and the music and videos they make.

As central New Jersey natives, we especially love featuring those who succeeded from our area. Nicole Atkin specializes in all things Jersey Shore, more specifically, Asbury Park.

Atkins was the star of the Jersey circuit after signing to Columbia Records; she always dazzled locals and nonnatives with her passionate amalgam of folk, rock, blues, and contemporary singer-songwriter music. She is unafraid to explore the “dark stuff” in her music and is usually applauded for her unflinching honesty and her detailed storytelling.

We were able to sit down with Atkins in 2008 and discuss “Neptune City,” a song dedicated to her parent’s bar in (of course) Neptune City, NJ and “The Way It Is,” a video that Atkins had a lot of creative say in.

Don’t forget to check out the “Neptune City” and “The Way It IS” music videos, too!

Atkins is always active in writing music and playing shows; for more info, check out www.NicoleAtkins.com. She is focused on using her platform to bring awareness to national crises. She is currently raising money for the detrimental Australian wildfires by selling artwork and playing benefits. Make sure to check out her most recent works, “A Little Crazy” and “Brokedown Luck.”
